What is diesel engine
DIESEL ENGINE
There is a second way to ignite the fuel-by compression ignition. This is the system used in diesel engines. When air is compressed, it is get very hot. The more it is compressed, the hotter it gets. Temperature increasing with increasing pressure. In the diesel engine, the air is compressed as little as 1/22 of its original volume. This is a compression ratio of 22:1. When air is compressed this much , its temperature goes as high as 1000 F [ 538 C ]. As the piston nears TDC on the compression stroke, the fuel system sprays diesel fuel ( a light oil ) into the combustion chamber. The high air temperature ignites the fuel and the power stroke follows
