ENGINE MOUNTS

Engine are usually attached to the engine frame in three places. Some engine have four attachments, or mounts. The mounts must not only provide flexible supports for the engine, they must also absorb engine noise and vibration. Otherwise, these would be carried up to the driver and passengers through the car frame and body. Also, vibration would be carried to the radiator, electric relays, and electronic controls and they could be damaged.

                                                        

    The engine mounts are some what flexible to permit the car frame or body to twist, as it does during normal operation without putting any  strain on the engine  block.
